Served
A meal planning app called Served - a simple way to eat healthier. My first comprehensive UX/UI project. Though the initial research and development was a group project, creation of the final app was done individually.
My group and I started this process with the question: How might we help people get 100% of their daily nutritional needs every day? In a nation where the CDC reported the adult obesity rate at 42% and climbing, this felt very topical.
After conducting user interviews and secondary research, we found that a majority of our interviewees felt that eating a healthy diet based on whole foods required more time, money and knowledge than they had access to.
The goal of this project became to foster healthy eating habits by removing barriers that prevent people from maintaining a healthy diet.
When creating our audience summary we distilled our main audience into 3 behavioral archetypes. We thoroughly explore their goals, needs and pain points to see where a product could best fit into their lives and relieve some of their problems.
We condensed our findings into a solution ecosystem (on the left) from which we drew out four diverse concepts that could each help our specific personas. We created low fidelity prototypes that we were able to concept test.
After testing and analysis we learned the most desirable and widely accessible concept was A- the grocery shopping app. Most users felt that they would benefit from anything that would take the chore out of grocery shopping.
Wireframe build outs of the on-boarding and main user flow. This buildout also included an exploration of recipe upload and OCR functionality.
I chose Open Sans and Avenir - clean and easy to read. The warm color palette evokes the warmth of cooking on the stove or of ripe fruit
The served brand is bold and simple, friendly and encouraging. Our goal is to help our user flow through effortlessly - from craving to cooking. We aim to do this by utilizing bright, warm colors, clean illustration and iconography, and an uncomplicated, clear interface. We aim to bring joy into cooking through friendly language, and bright imagery.
Served makes it possible to accomplish the whole meal planning routine each week in just three steps: planning, shopping and cooking.
